BACKGROUND

Elisa’s passion for soul music comes from her upbringing in Dayton Ohio, the Official Funk Town. In good company with R&B / funk musicians, she toured regionally in the Billy Taylor band as lead singer. Elisa lived and performed in Maui Hawaii for six years, with a four-year residency at the Five Star Grand Wailea Hotel Resort & Spa. Each year she sang at the Taste of South Wailea, the Maui Aids, Arthritis, Cancer, and Epilepsy Foundations, often volunteering her versatile vocal style and captivating performance to support her community.

Upon moving to Los Angeles, Elisa immediately formed the E-Star Band to showcase her originals and versatile covers entertaining a full house at The Beverly Hills Hotel/Concert Series, and the House of Blues in West Hollywood with R&B / Soul & Spicy Jazz music. She also performed at spots such as; La Ve Lee, Monsoons Cafe, Lunaria's, San Gennaro's, and Zabumba's Café, as well as in Paris, Dominican Republic and Mexico.

Elisa is a member of Los Angeles Music Network-LAMN, Women in Music-WIN, National Association of Black Female Executives in Music-NABFEM, and Board Chair of International Society of Black Latinos-ISBL

William Portela, “CHILLIE WILLIE GROOVE” was born into a musically inclined family. His father was a well-established Latin Percussionist in the New York Tin Pan Alley early salsa scene and of whose mother was a singer. In fact, while CHILLIE was in his mother’s womb his father would play Latin rhythms on the congas to his mother’s womb while baby CHILLIE kicked with excitement and moved around with great joy!

In first grade and throughout high school music was dominant in CHILLIE’S life. He was later selected to participate in a very unique and special school after high school called EDUCATIONAL CENTER FOR THE ARTS! CHILLIE then proceeded to further his music education by enrolling in college at SHANANDOAH CONSERVATORY OF MUSIC and played drums for the UNITED STATES ARMY RESERVE MARCHING BAND. CHILLIE has played with countless bands, and genres including Salsa, Smooth Jazz, R&B, Funk, Christian, Reggae, and Symphonic Orchestras. Chillie has traveled and toured Germany, France, Luxembourg, Iceland with the Latin Jazz / Funk group CELLULA NY.

CHILLIE WILLIE GROOVE auditioned and opened up for Lionel Hampton and Duke Ellington under the direction of Mercer Ellington in which he was granted the EXCLUSIVE PRIVALEGE of being chosen among 63 other bands for the SOLE OPENING ACT! CHILLIE toured in the 80’s with Angela Bofill, Phylis Hymen, Chuck Mangione, Tower Of Power, El Gran Combo Of Puerto Rico, and has performed with Marion Meadows, and a sit in with GEORGE BENSON, Jimmy Cliff, and Africa’s “LOST BOYS OF SIERRA LEON” and finally performed with The Russian Traveling Jazz Band at QUINIPIAC College.

Major highlights in CHILLIE’S career came when he met and performed right beside TITO PUENTE at the Brian Alden Jazz Festival in Connecticut, as well as at the age of 16 he performed with MASTER CONGERO “MONGO SANTAMARIA”, and more recently at THE INTERNATIONAL ARTS AND IDEAS FESTIVAL IN NEW HAVEN IN 2021.

CHILLIE auditioned for AMERICAS GOT TALENT and received a second callback among the thousands who auditioned from around the world. He is a member of ASCAP, GOSPEL MUSIC ASSOCIATION, SONGWRITERS GUILD OF AMERICA, and a recipient of the 1999 Tucson Arizona “TAMMY” recipient.

CHILLIE WILLIE GROOVE was signed to TATE MUSIC GROUP with the release of “ONLY THE BEGINNING“, a contemporary gospel cd, and he is currently releasing a new cd “ITS ABOUT TIME” featuring songstress “ELISA GOMEZ TAYLOR”.

CHILLIE is committed to his GOD GIVEN talent and to his Heavenly Father who receives all the PRAISE, HONOR and GLORY.
