Eugene Mandelcorn is a producer, screenwriter, and the creator of First Features, an organization and studio dedicated to a new cinematic movement known as the "solution genre".
First Features & The Solution Genre: Mission: Mandelcorn's primary goal is to produce films that do more than just entertain; they aim to offer tangible solutions to real-world problems. Flagship Project: Under this banner, he wrote and produced the narrative feature film "Lee'd the Way" (2021). The film follows a legally blind and autistic protagonist and is distributed globally by Buffalo 8. Innovative Marketing: To replace traditional trailers, First Features developed interactive, immersive video games that allow audiences to engage directly with the film’s characters and story.
Professional Background: Experience: Mandelcorn spent 20 years running an international organization for filmmakers and 11 years managing a sales and marketing firm that sold films worldwide. Previous Work: His producer credits include films such as April Showers (2009), Seventh Veil (2003), and Grave Images (1991). Community Impact: Before his full-time shift to independent film, he organized major community events in California, including the Teen Comic Age and Animation Festival, which featured Stan Lee as Master of Ceremonies.
Mandelcorn remains active in the filmmaking community, frequently sharing insights on Substack and Stage 32 regarding micro-budget production and creative control
